Welcome! I’m Nicole, the mom of an energetic little boy and wife to a husband that inspires me to be healthier everyday. Our little family is on a journey to get back to a more natural way of living in a world where very little is natural anymore. We are changing the way we eat and trying to be more conscientious and educated about the way things around us affect our health and well-being. Delight in the Rain is my way of shouting to the world about the wonderful changes we are making in our lives. I will share the successes (and road blocks) we encounter along our journey and hope to inform and inspire you take a more natural approach to living.
My Story Our journey to get back to a more natural lifestyle began in 2008 around the time we were thinking about getting pregnant with our first child. I became more aware and concerned about what I was putting in my body that might affect my child. We dabbled in eliminating certain ingredients from our food, using natural remedies for illness when possible, and more natural cleaners and body and skincare products. We continued on that path, for the most part, up to a few months ago when we recently had a few eye-opening experiences while watching some food documentaries. Those documentaries gave us the final push to make some bigger and more permanent changes in our lives and continue learning more.
Now my reasoning behind this journey is two-fold: to be healthier overall, but also to find some answers and hopefully natural solutions to some health problems (seasonal allergies, skin problems, unexplained stomach problems, low energy, and anxiety) I’ve had for a while now, but seem to have gotten worse recently. My ultimate goal is to take the best care of myself as I can, but also to teach my son and others that it is possible to eat and live more naturally in today’s world.
